So sorry, woke up very unwell and won't be able to come today. Personal reflection on the book: as philosophical musings about our passage here on earth interesting, as a story about two people and how 'fate' or 'chance' play a role in their lives - hated it! Some insights into Prague at that time in history but overall a frustrating book to read! Once I decided (about halfway through) to not view it as a novel with a story and more just as the author's reflections on life, a time and place in history, and a series philosophical musings about 'being' it was easier to read. Apologies for the very late cancellation. Already feeling yuk with the heat and 39 deg at 10 am is, well ...
I liked the book, in parts. Enjoyed the ideas early on, particularly the 'misunderstood words' and what it said about relationships. But other parts not so much, it did rather go on in places.

I would love to attend today, after persevering with this novel I remebered why I loved it so much years ago... I'm still stuggling with a cold and don't want to be coughing and wheezing over everyone at the cafe. I'd love to hear about people thought about the last third of the book in particular.

I'm also going to have to pull out of this one, sorry! I'm feeling pretty cruddy, think it's the heat so going out tomorrow in the middle of the day isn't the best idea. Have a great time! Did not love the book for the record, I made a couple of attempts but it just wasn't clicking for me (but it did put me to sleep a few times)! I made it about halfway and gave up.

Hi Marc, I am not going to be able to attend the Meet-Up this Sunday 2 Feb. I have just returned from overseas after releasing my second Novel, The Land of Lost Contentment. I should, however, be able to come to the next. Good talking about this one, though.
