We met some new and old members at this Adelaide Zoo Meetup. It was lovely to finally meet Simon. Having refreshments after taking lots of photos is a great idea to get to know the members better.

The company and weather were great, but I thought the animals were very uncooperative...been to the Zoo hundreds of times, but this time, it was as if they were all on Valium...they're usually more active in the mornings...

  • Kay

We thought it was 11am and only looked at the messages at 9.45, so we'll have to go another day.

    March 11, 2012

  • Ron J.

Yes Anthony...normally it is, but there might be temporary restrictions due to Womad as they're charging an entry fee so they might have entry blocked

  • Anthony

Do you think it's possible to walk right through the Botanic Gardens from North Terrace?

    March 10, 2012

  • Sandra

    Good morning Togs....

Having visited the Zoo's Website I am pleased to confirm that the Zoo will be open for business as usual tomorrow. However, please note that there will be no access to Adelaide Zoo via Hackney Road or Plane Tree from March 5 - 13 due to the Womad festival.

Look forward to see you all there in the morning....

    March 10, 2012

  • Sandra

I will call the Zoo tomorrow and confirm access and parking etc.

Will post a comment here am tomorrow.

    March 9, 2012

  • Anthony

I'm getting there by tram and walking the rest of the way.

    March 9, 2012

  • Ron J.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing...I need a disabled park and seriously doubt I'll get one with that going on...if I don't show, it's due t me not getting a park...went past there last Tuesday and there was a guard on the entrance to Botanic Park so don't even know if you can get in...?
Should we try for another date...?

Possible Glitch to Zoo visit: WOMAD is on at the same time. Will the animals be nervous, hiding? What about parking? Will be pretty impossible with the Festival on as well. Go by bus?? I might have to withdraw if the buses are too few on Sundays.

I'll be using my new "big bertha" lens... So glad I'll have my wheelchair and caddy with me to help get around with all the extra weight...LOL

Well said everybody!! This is a group to share the experience of taking photos. So come along with whatever camera you have. I am thinking of using my smart phone with all it's apps for some photos! See you there Dannielle!

  • Sandra

Look forward to seeing you there Dannielle on Sunday

    March 7, 2012

  • Ron J.

Dannielle, please come along, we're not a DSLR group, but a photography group...if you can do it with a pin hole camera it's OK...it's all about having fun and taking pics whatever type of camera you have...

    March 7, 2012

  • Anthony

Hi Dannielle, you'd be surprised at what you can produce even with a point and shoot camera, and besides, they are much more compact and portable than a DSLR camera ;-)

Hi all. I haven't RSVP'd yet but I think I will come. Looking forward to it! =)

Upon further investigation it turns out there is only one entrance to the zoo these days and you access it from both roads. So please ignore my previous comment and I will see you all there at 9.30. :)

    Hi Guys
Looking forward to meeting you all there. Can I just confirm where we are meeting? The old entrance on Frome Rd? Is that correct? The new main entrance is on Plane Tree Drive near the Pandas so I just want to make sure.
Can't wait to see you all. Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. :)

Hi Anthony, there is no last day to reply unless it is a specialised event with limited numbers. This one, just come along if you can enjoy yourself with like minded people. cheers Kath

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
