We are active and energetic men and women (couples and singles) who are adjusting to retirement and want our retired lives to have as much purpose and meaning as we had during our careers. It's about making the most of our retirement years!
Our Meetups challenge conventional thoughts about retirement. We discuss navigating the transition from the work world to retirement, and the challenges, changes, obstacles and opportunities that we face.
Our members are lively, inquiring, interesting, and welcoming. We celebrate the new freedoms that retirement offers, have fun exploring our futures and make new friends with like-minded people.
Most of our meetups are on weekday afternoons and include:
New Member meetings provide an orientation for new members and help us get to know each other.
The Table-top Discussions meet afternoons at a member's home. As the name implies, discussions are held in small groups of four members, around topics related to members' concerns (i.e. bucket lists, exploring grief/loss, elder-care, etc,) Each member actively participates by sharing their experience, knowledge and information on the subject.
The Movie Group meets twice a month for lunch and an afternoon movie.
The Bunco Game Group meets monthly to play this wild and wooly dice game (and a few dollars may change hands).
And more, depending on the interests of our members
HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR OUR GROUP: You should be retired (partially or fully) or contemplating retirement and desire to make the most out of the next chapter of your life. This is not just a movie group or a lunch group - although do these things too. This is for men and women who want to explore issues we all face in adjusting to retirement. It's about learning and having fun too. We don't have any membership fees, but ask for $1 per month donation at the monthly meeting to help offset the cost of the website and misc supplies.
JUST A FEW RULES:
A photo of yourself (NOT your pet, NOT your cactus, etc.) is required for membership since this helps everyone get to know each other.
Common courtesies are expected. If you RSVP "yes" and your plans change, let us know. Repeated "no shows" may be removed from our group.
If you commit to bringing food (or some other commitment) and are unable, please arrange a replacement.
Business networking and promotion of your business is not what we're about and is therefore not permitted.
We REQUIRE all new members to attend a public meeting (such as our monthly meetings) before attending any meeting in a member's home. This is for our member's privacy and safety, I'm sure you'll understand.
We value behavior that "wears well on others" and we reserve the right to remove anyone from membership.
