Do you consider yourself a designer?

Yes. I worked my way up from junior designer through senior designer, art director, creative director, and now through some odd series of events am now just managing designers, developers, and strategists, and don't really get to do any designing myself at all other than the odd fix or adjustment here and there. All this being said, I am pretty strictly a web designer. I have done work in a variety of areas, but am certainly best at web, specifically GUIs and user interface systems.

Do you consider yourself a developer?

No. I do know how to write PHP, MySQL, XML, javascript, as well as a few other languages that I am not as good at. But I am a lot better at fixing problems than writing code from scratch. I am quite good at HTML and CSS though.

Do you consider yourself an educator?

Absolutely. In this line of work educating coworkers, clients, and myself is a key part of my job. The web is constantly changing, and we have to keep up!

What expertise can you share with this group?

I suppose that depends on who is there. I have a lot of experience in managing designers, running a business, and working with government, medical, and educational institutions building GUIs for web-based software systems. We almost always use Fireworks for wireframing, and that experience may be useful with this meetup. Although I think that my experience with actually working with teams building this kind of software and the management of those groups and the clients' teams may be more beneficial to this group.
