All right. So as we discussed at the last meetup, Ithe weekly classes have been cancelled and replaced by biweekly social outings and life discussions. For those who were not there for the rules of the game, here are the guidelines once again.

1. The first social outing you will allow you three points that you can spend to lead and plan your own social outings whose details you can post on this site. For example, our first outing, the Memphis Tiger game on February 11th, is being planned out by myself so I will simultaneously gain and spend my three points to plan an outing.

2. Every other social outing you attend after the first one will give you one point. This way, everyone will have an opportunity to lead and plan their own social outings for the group so long as they continue to participate in what everyone else proposes. I will continue to keep track of who has what so that everyone will be able to plan activities when they want to.

3. Once again, the "cost" of leading and planning a social outing is three points. It will be your responsibility to choose the time and place where we will meet. Once again I stress that while you should plan activities that you believe you'll enjoy, also be sure that they are activities that you believe that other people will want to engage in. Don't be afraid to ask somebody else what they are interested in if this is a point of concern.

If you have any questions about the new direction for the group then feel free to either contact me through the message board, by e-mail, or by phone. After four years of teaching classes, I must confess that I'm very interested in seeing where this will go and hope that all of you can continue with me down the road to greater self-sufficiency and social independence.

Sincerely,

Matthew Roberts

Sorry I've been away for the past few weeks. So the group is now only meeting biweekly? I do want to thank Matt for all the hard work he's done for this group for the past four years.

All right. Sorry for the late update to the social site. As one can see so far though, no one has suggested a prospective activity for next week's meeting and the opportunity is still open for those who attended the previous meet-up.

Date: February 11th, 2012
Activity: Johnny Brusco's Pizza and Subs and Memphis vs. UAB at FedEx Forum
Participants and Points:
Matt Roberts (organizer - 0 points)
Kara Boyles (3 points)
ASKI (3 points)
Kyle Sobcyzk (3 points)
James Catchings Jr. (3 points)
Ivan Noltennius (3 points)

The suggestion for a social meetup for February 25th, as well as the later dates, are first come first serve. Initative lies at the crossroads of opportunity and I hope to see a response to this soon.

Well, as tempted as I might be to cancel everything altogether, I'll take a bullet on this occasion and offer up another social outing. I would once again like to state that the focus of the biweekly social outing plan is not just about listening and responding to what other people want to do. This will offer the opportunity for all of us to learn to take greater initative on matters that are important to us be it socializing, dealing with unexpected stressors, and potentially enduring a potential failure.

That being said, here's the skinny for Saturday:

RB, BG, and B-Ball
Beginning Location: Matt Roberts's Apartment
Address:
4341 Tantallon Lane Apt. 5306
Memphis, TN 38125

I will be at Cordova Malco at 2:30 P.M. to pick up anyone who requires a ride. The event begins at 3 P.M. where a variety of entertainment options will be available and those who participate are more than welcome to provide more. Dinner will be at the Booya's in Collierville where we'll combine watching some of the NBA All-Star Weekend and have a social class discussion on a topic of my choosing. We will return to the apartment (time permitting) and either relax at my apartment or wait to go cosmic bowling at Cordova Lanes depending on the vote of those involved. As one might guess, the event's end time and location will depend on the vote and each individual student will be responsible for getting back to their own respective homes.

Hope everybody can make it and, of course, if you need any further information you may contact me at (901)-854-1855.

Can particpants be there later than 3:00 PM? I was going to watch Ole Miss lose to LSU in basketball at noon, thus delaying my departure to Memphis.

Thanks for calling me on Thursday and reminding me of Saturday.I apologize that I cannot make it this Saturday, due to a family event. I hope you have fun and that there is some good B-Ball on at Booya's.

You had some good points about empowering students to practice taking initiative, making decisions and dealing with the inevitable unpredicatability known as life. I will think of something good one of these days. I really want this biweekly meetup to work. I have fun chatting and hanging out with all of you, no matter what venture is chosen.

Adult Asperger Group Update

Well, the last occasion was a bit of a hiccup but with some quick planning we managed to get across another successful social outing. Once again, I would like to stress the importance of initative in regards to planning these outings. Or, if to something is to be said more directly, if no outing is planned for March 11th then there will be no meetup. No more and no less.

Now let's see who will be able to plan out these events, shall we?
Attendees for February 25th:
Matt Roberts (1 point)
Kara Boyles (co-organizer - 3 points)
James Catchings Jr. (co-organizer - 3 points)
Kyle Sobcyzk (co-organizer - 3 points)
James Gallagher (3 points)
Jacob Eftink (3 points)
Ivan Noltennius (4 points)

Past Participants
Alison Inglis (3 points)
Austin (1 point)

Once again, the organization of plans is first come, first serve. If you have any questions about what needs to be done then please contact me either here or by phone at (901)-237-8159
