We are adult piano students whose level ranges from beginner to advanced (even teaching). Some of us are new beginners, others have returned to the piano after having some experience as children and others have been playing consistently since childhood. As adult piano students we know it's really important to have time to perform publicly, but recitals with 99% young children and their parents are just too awkward. Therefore we started a group that can set up some opportunities for adult piano students to play publicly with other students, friends, and family in appropriate setting and supportive enviroment- musical evenings, small recitals, music clubs, etc.
We've recently started our Piano Club where we meet informally to share 1-2 pieces with each other in a comfortable and supportive environment while we work on our public performing skills. Usually a maximum of 6 people are attending. Your music does not have to be memorized or polished, and don't worry about mistakes. We want everyone to enjoy themselves. We have from beginner to advanced level members, even some music teachers- but we all have issues with performance anxiety. However, in this format we all take turns "embarrassing ourselves" which takes a lot of the pressure off.
We will to also have occasional recitals where we can invite a friends and family to hear us play.
We would love for you to come an participate in both venues.
