Why Meditate? So you are a good person who works hard, but still lack money, a mate, health or happiness? You may pray for these things, but your prayers aren’t answered. What to do? You feel you need to be more in tune with God. Possibly the most important instruction in the Bible is when Jesus said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven, and then all the rest will be added unto you as well.” (Matthew 6:33) That is, if you find God, then everything you need will be yours. What a promise! A parallel passage from the Bhagavad Gita, the “bible” of India, is when Krishna said, “To men who meditate on me as their very own, ever united to me by incessant worship, I supply their deficiencies and make permanent their gains.” (9:22) So there is the answer—meditate.

But how to meditate? Most people live in a world of duality—joy and despair, pleasure and pain, good and evil, love and hatred, richness and poverty, etc. They experience plenty of the negative—despair, pain, evil, hatred, poverty. Yet God created everything. Why would he create all these negative things? An excellent question. God created souls, which have all the qualities of God, including free will. Souls who have “fallen” from the heights of omniscience, omnipotence, etc. have covered the qualities of joy, goodness, etc. with “veils,” “mud,” “soot” or whatever metaphor you want. Souls created negativity! So instead of pleading with God to remove negativity, they can choose to remove the veils by earnestly seeking God. By communing with God for thousands of hours, they harmonize with Him and “burn” their bad karma, that is, the undesirable results of their free will.

Now that you understand the need to meditate, and are motivated to do so, you need to learn how to meditate, and then actually do it. The wise men of India were the first to discover how to meditate, and have been practicing it continuously to the present day. Therefore, learn from someone who knows these ancient techniques and is proficient at teaching and practicing them.

The sages of India have a secret that is available to everyone. It has been a long, closely-held secret, which few people have discovered, but, once uncovered, could change your life and all the lives around you. It takes some practice to learn a new skill, but once your journey starts, your soul will push you onward, as this is the culmination of deep longing in your soul.

So the soul, which resides deep in you in all of your incarnations (for you have the same soul throughout all of your incarnations), remembers its Creator—God, Divine Mother, whatever name you prefer to use. The soul pulls you in the direction of your search for the truth and knowledge that sets you free.

The soul has an obsession to get back to its Creator. Because of its obsession, it takes over your desires and dreams and you become obsessed with the search of your soul for the Creator. Therefore you could say that you become possessed by the obsession of your soul.

This manifests itself as desire and love for the absolute truth, and nothing less will satisfy the soul. You could spend a lifetime searching, or you could practice the simple skills given on the Message Board, thereby freeing your soul from its temporary body and finding true bliss and ecstasy. Paramhansa Yogananda referred to Kriya Yoga as being the "airplane route" to enlightenment, but I call the skills you are about to learn here the "rocketship approach” to enlightenment. So fasten your seatbelt and get ready to have true ecstasy-bliss every day of your life.

Bliss is the feeling of utter joy and contentment, and ecstacy is a state of rapturous delight, a state of sudden, intense feeling. So let's put them both together as the oneness when merging with the Creator and receiving unconditional love from the Creator. This oneness and love have such a strong vibration that it fills every cell and nerve of your body with bliss, love and devotion, radiating love out from your body in the energy field around you. This feeling of the love and bliss become such a craving for more joy until there becomes an explosive merging. Upon this merging the soul rejoices and the body remembers this ecstatic feeling, the long-lasting feeling of bliss, which permeates the body with wisdom and knowledge from ages past. This is the point of enlightenment.

So if your soul desires ecstatic bliss, let's get started on the ride of your life.
