We've been meeting and chatting informally for a long time. We'll still do that, but for the first time, we're going to experiment with introducing some topics to discuss and debate, something which has been requested before and it's time to give it a go. The idea is to give ourselves new topics and stretch our vocabularies. If you have like this idea and want to suggest topics, write and let me know.
Here are three potential topics for this week. We'll start with one and if it's boring or we run out of time or interest, we'll move on.
1) Should drugs be banned in the US or elsewhere? This means currently illegal drugs like marijuana, cocaine, etc. How about alcohol?
2) Was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War 2 justified?
3) Are video games bad for children? Do violent video games and movies cause violent behavior in children?
For newcomers, this is an advanced meetup meaning no English is allowed. Don't worry, we're not all advanced and if you're intermediate or so you're more than welcome. The idea is to just keep English out of it except for translating individual words as necessary.
Also, unrelated to this meetup, a member named Al Gorgoni is looking for someone who writes lyrics in Mandarin. If you are interested, write to him at [masked].
Look forward to seeing everyone there.
