Fake mummies on Halloween? Check out the real thing!

So, you can check out fake mummies on Halloween, or come with us on Sunday to see the real thing - at the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium in San Jose!!

This museum "houses the largest collection of Egyptian artifacts, on exhibit in the western United States -- including objects from pre dynastic times through Egypt's early Islamic era", including several mummies, all located in a building "Architecturally inspired by the Temple of Amon at Karnak".

In addition to the artifacts on display, there are also programs at the Planetarium on the History of the Telescope, and the Mithraic Mysteries at 2pm and 3:30pm.

We'll meet outsude the front entrance at 1:45 pm.

Since tours are not available on the weekends, we'll explore the museum on our own, and you might also be interested in this:

Set in a beautiful 'Peace Garden' the museum has a great collection of Egyptian artifacts, and even a replica of a rock-cut tomb. Not quite the same as visiting Egypt, but next best thing!! Displays are well marked and give a good representation of ancient Egyptian life and religion.
