The former Sakai Brothers Rose Company in Richmond CA. Dating to about 1910, the nursery grew from 1 acre and 1 green house to 14 acres and 40 greenhouses growing roses and carnations for the cut flower industry. Tax changes doomed the domestic cut flower industry and the greenhouses closed forever in 2004-5. The site only recently was razed to be replaced by housing. Some historic structures have been spared and will be restored as reminders of when East Bay was as much agricultural as industrial.
