Where is the most interesting place you have been and why?

When I was 9 years old, my parents took me and my brother to El Salvador, the land of their birth. As a young American child, I hated it! At the time, I wasn't at all adventurous, and I didn't know the language well, so the entire trip was one big culture shock for me. Thinking back, there are so many things about the country I would have appreciated now as an adult that I couldn't appreciate as a kid. The one thing I remember that I always remembered - my favorite memory from the whole trip - was when we were in a truck in the backroads, near one of El Salvador's volcanoes. I was standing up, holding on to the side of the truck, taking in the view. We passed a set of pushes, and the scene seemed to erupt in color. Butterflies that had been sitting in the bushes were scared by the passing truck, and all I could see were beating wings of all different colors, flying in every direction. I will probably never see anything like that again.

I'm an amature photographer, but I've always wanted to travel, see the world, and do something to give back. I don't know if I will be able to swing some of these trips, but atleast I will have a source of finding compassionate trips.
