Yep, that's right. 11 years! Come help us celebrate at Alamo River Ranch on the Medina River.
This event was originally scheduled for May 11th but had to be postponed due to tornado damage to ARR the night before. Luckily, no one was hurt and no structures were damaged. It knocked down about 50 trees in the campground though. They have been piling it up for us and we are going to have a giant bonfire. It will probably be the biggest one we ever have.
Alamo River Ranch is a great property on the Medina River at Von Ormy, on the SW side of San Antonio. Bring a kayak and paddle if you wish. You can just paddle in the area of ARR, or you can make about a 6 to 7 mile run from Loop 1604 to where we will be camping. There are also trails on the property, bring a mountain bike and do some shredding. You can bring horses too if you want.
We'll do a potluck cookout around 6:00 PM. There will be at least a couple of big BBQ grills going, and a kitchen setup with stoves and utensils. Bring something already prepared or cook it onsite. We'll have a keg of beer, BYOB otherwise. This is a campground, so no glass please.
The campground fee is $5 whether you stay the night or not. Stop and pay at the office when you arrive, they will point you in the right direction. They lock the gate here at dusk, try to arrive before it gets dark. Otherwise you will need to use an access code.
San Antonio's premiere Fire Spinning troupe will be entertaining the reveler's at the anniversary party tonight. Some information about this troupe includes these facts: The word “nocturnal” was chosen in honor of the members and the craft of the night, and “sol” in honor of the Spanish word for “sun”, to reflect hometown San Antonio’s unique “fire” and cultural spirit. Now, after many trials, laughs, and journeys, Nocturnal Sol has become part of the fiery soul of South Texas. Sharing their craft to all, everyone is welcomed among the art. With no limits, and without hesitation, let Nocturnal Sol set your “sol” free. If you enjoy the show please leave them some money in the tip jars. They are usually paid for entertaining but are willingly doing this gig for free. SO PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY. They accept cash, checks, and they have a pay pal account so credit/debit cards can also be used depending on the reception of the location. Cash and Checks are best. Again, PLEASE BE GENEROUS and donate to this awesome group of fire spinners.
