Some of us warmup doing beach volleyball drills from Noon to 1 PM to improve our skills. Then play 3x3 or 4x4 games to warmup. Drills last about 50 minutes and rest 5-15 minutes before playing games.
I try to show up between 11 AM & noon to get a court. We sometimes need to wait to take over a court so meetup is scheduled 12 PM to 5 PM or when people decide to leave. If you join around 11 AM we may do a few drills before others show up.
I'm looking for people that want to improve something.
This meetup is scheduled through Winter. Last year it rained on parts of Santa Monica city a few times but rarely rained on the beach. In 5 yrs OP beach has only been rained on about 5-6 times - mostly days we don't play. Some of us show up and play when it looks ugly but is only raining away from the beach. My cell is[masked] if you want to know if beach is dry or not. We don't play volleyball in lightening. And don't recommend showering in lightening since water pipes & shower water conduct electricity.
I see vb players like Brook do drills 1-2 hours sometimes when she cannot join a group to play games with to stay fit. She plays cbva.org tournaments level AA. Others that play tournaments also warm up doing drills. People not serious about improving or maintaining skills sometimes miss 4-6 passes, sets, hits or spikes a game.
I see beginner coaches have students hustle a court forward and sideways. Another way to do this is to hustle for a ball even if we know we cannot play it. Sometimes A, AA & AAA level players hustling for these balls make it and return the ball or pass it to their teammate. If we hustle for the ball every time for 2-3 months we may gain 2-4 points some games. Some of us need to learn to step back 1-3 steps to have better ball control.
I'm bring 2-3 courts. A extra court permits two or more to continue doing drills that arrive later.
I bring 4-6 balls but it helps if you bring yours also so we get more drills before we chase balls.
Meetup is free before Daylight Savings returns then a $5.00 workshop charge to replace worn out balls and $5.00 fee to pay Adventure People annual dues.
Lets have fun.
