Last year we did one of the coolest rafting trips ever to the Kings river in the middle of the summer.

It was awesomissimo, amazimissimo, alucinante! So this year we are doing the same thing and now going to the awesome American River.
Susan said the American River was her first and best rafting experience ever. And if Susan says something, that's the way it is! :-)
The best thing about the American River especially for this season that we didn't have a lot of rain is that since we'll be at a dammed portion of the river, the water volume have not changed at all, as opposed to most of the other rivers that depend on snow melt for water volume. Also, because the water sits on a lake for a while, it has time to warm up so it will be even nicer than the Kings river last year. And that was pretty awesome already. Rafting in hot weather and nice temperature waters. That's how rafting was meant to be done!
We're once going with Whitewater Voyages, the same company we've used for the past two years. The best rafting company in America (it says right on their website). And once again, we're getting a discount: 140 American Dollars per person. We’ll meet at 9:30, get the orientation and instructions, head out to the river, and raft about ten miles until about 4:30 pm. They’ll also give us lunch. Their lunch is always awesome by the way. I would go just for the lunch!
Now, I know it will be a pretty long drive. Over 6 hours. But not only it is worth it for the awesome rafting, but we will be an an awesome area. The town of Coloma is a historic gold rush town with a lot of attractions, including tons of roads for biking and tons of trails of hiking.
They will let us check in at any time on Friday. Even in the morning if you want to head out super early, which might be a great idea. This way you can enjoy the area for a full day before we go rafting on Saturday. They have their own 7 acre campground, with a river beach and a play area with a volleyball court, foosball and ping pong tables. They even have flush toilets and showers (yes, showers!!!).
Check out the campground page.
As always, at night we'll hang out by the fire, having drinks, s’mores, mozzarella stix and other fun stuff.
We should get drunk and go play foosball! By the way, I specifically picked that date because it will be almost full moon. So if we want we can go for a night hike too.
If you are new to camping, you can refer to the Adventure-Us Car Camping List for what to bring.
As always, need your payment right away when you RSVP. It is really hard to keep track of who paid and who didn't, so if you RSVP and don't send me the payment I will remove your RSVP so you go back and RSVP again and pay. I'm not mad, and I'm not kicking you out of the trip, but that's the only way I can keep track. And if I remove you and someone else takes your spot before you go back and RSVP again, there is nothing I can do. That has happened before, so please make sure to pay immediately when you RSVP.

As always, I strongly, strongly suggest that you RSVP as soon as you can if you are thinking about coming. Last year we had a whole bunch people who wanted to come after the trip was full. I've gotten 15 spaces initially. If we fill up I'll see if they have more room and keep adding. They’ll let me add more people only until they reach their limit. After that, there is nothing I can do.
All right, let's do some all American rafting at the American River (that was cheese, I know...)
See you all there.
P.S. Please remember that Adventure People is not a company, but a group of friends doing stuff together. I will always do my best to try and make sure everyone is safe, including hiring professional guides as we are doing on this trip. But your safety is ultimately your responsibility.
By signing up for this trip you are acknowledging not to hold Adventure People, its organizers or any of its members responsible for your safety.
