Sunset Peak Hike 7.2 Mi 1300 G/L Fireroad up and down with Keith

Last minute hike to Sunset Peak. I have the afternoon free and thought I would hit Sunset Peak for a nice wind down to my week. Please join me if you can. Please note that this is the trial head closest to Mt. Baldy Road, not the one 4 miles down Glendora Ridge Road we use for the long way. Check the map please. Contact me with any questions.

Sunset Peak is a popular summit south of Baldy and Lookout Mountain. For people in reasonably good shape, virtually no wilderness experience is required, as the summit can be reached by a well-graded fire road (a total distance of 3.5 miles for a round trip of 7).

Location: Angeles National Forest south of Mt. Baldy. From the 210 Freeway, take the Baseline Road exit and go west for 0.7 miles. Take a right (north) onto Mills, go 1.1 miles and bear right onto Mt. Baldy Road. Go 8 miles and take a hard left on Glendora Ridge Road (right before Mt. Baldy Village) and drive a mile to Cow Canyon Saddle and park at the side of the road.

Thanks Keith, had a lot of fun on this hike with a great bunch of people. The views were superb and the weather just about perfect for the last days of summer.

Super fun hike with great people. We had a strong group of trekkers and made good time while still enjoying the moments. With the road closure the hike ended up at 9.5 miles and over 1600 G/L. Good workout and spectacular views along the way. Thanks for sharing the pictures! Lets do it again soon!
