Deep Creek Hot Springs!!

Deep Creek here we come! I ain't hiking no stinking 7 miles to the springs. We are going to park at the Bowen Ranch 5.00 dollars per person. 2 miles or so to the springs & 930' of elevation!! Be sure to bring a change of clothes, plenty water, snacks, comfy walking/hiking shoes, hat & sunscreen.

Beware, there are nudists here! =)

Bowen Ranch is a private property and the owner expects you to pay $5.00 per person per day and $10.00 for overnight camping.  If the owner does not come to the door there are some envelopes and pencil on the steps for you to deposit your payment in the slot on the wall.  Then continue down the road for another 0.5 miles to the parking lot.  You will see signs of "No vehicles beyond this point".

Please read the entire write up!

Deep Creek Hot Springs.  6100 Bowen Ranch Rd Apple Valley, CA 92307

I posted directions under comment section. Zoom in on the map & you can see where to park.

#1  BLUE DRIVING ROUTE FROM THE NORTH (For 2wd) Park at the Bowen Ranch, pay $5 and you have a 1.5 mile gentle downhill hike through bland high desert scrub and then a .5 mile steeper portion, this section may give trouble to those who don't hike a lot. There is no shade so bring lots of water and wear sun protection.

No Plus ones unless approved!!

Hey all, I have a question. Would it be possible to hike the Bradford Ridge Trail and meet the group at the hot springs?

    September 27, 2013

    • Dawn

Hey Mike, the Bradford Ridge Trail is only accessible from Arrowhead, meaning you would have to drive all the way up to Arrowhead, then take the road down to the Bradford Ridge Trail. The old dirt road that went up to Bradford Ridge from the Hesperia side (PCT) has been permanently gated.

Yeah I saw that but me coming from the IE, it's actually much faster going that way.

My car has a very low profile. If at all possible, it would be great if I could park and leave my car somewhere safe, and ride along with someone who has a high clearance vehicle. I would very appreciate it!

    September 27, 2013

    • Berg

Hi Sandra & Rob, I have a high clearance vehicle; you both are more than welcome to come along. We can meet at the Claremont Lodge parking lot located on the north side of the 10 fwy and Indian Hill Blvd.

I don't mind leading, as I have been this way many, many times before. There is really only one section of road that may be problematic for 2-wheel drive vehicles. It is deeply rutted and uneven. AWD or 4WD recommended, although I have seen all manner of vehicles parked at the ranch.

I have a truck with clearance and can take me +4

Anyone want to carpool from South OC? - Carpool from the Rancho or Irvine areas.

    September 27, 2013

  • Rob

I am looking to carpool out of OC somewhere?

    September 26, 2013

    • Mike F.

Same here. I live at the south end of the 241 (near Ladera/Rancho/Coto). If you live north we could meet in Irvine.

      September 27, 2013

    • Rob

      too far south for me

Hi Rod! You may answer this question when you update the meeting site this evening, but is the 8:00 AM start time referring to when you are leaving O.C., or when to arrive at Bowen Ranch? Thanks!

I am looking forward to this hike. I have never been here before.

Sounds amazing! I was hoping there were some hot springs around here that hadn't been turned into a chlorinated pool. I'd like to join this journey with my husband. Can I get a +1 approved?

    September 24, 2013

    • Dawn

You'll love this place, Stephanie. It can get a bit crowded on weekends, so you'll have to use this as a recon mission and come back mid-week sometime.

      September 24, 2013

  • Berg

I'm open to both carpooling options.
It could be either from Claremont at Indian Hill Blvd and the 10 Fwy or Ontario Mills at the 10 & 15 Freeways.

Hi Rod, I've read/heard/seen pics ;) but have never been. Given play time & possible post hike indulgence, what's the typical afternoon ETA back to the O.C. (say 55/91)? (Trying to figure out if I need afternoon childcare care. Covered until 3 P.M.)

    September 17, 2013

  • Elena

Rod: can I please have +1 (obidient)?

    September 17, 2013

  • Dawn

Hi Rod, I'm tentatively RSVPing for this . . . Brian as a +1 OK with you?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
