Kayaking then BBQ on the beach (& camping) at Pawtuckaway SP

This is the second bi-annual Pawtuckaway Kayak and Beach BBQ meetup :)  (I did this 2 years ago with this group - it was the first meetup for this group)

I will set up a picnic site near the beach where there will be a portable grill and charcoal, bring whatever you want to eat and maybe a side dish to share, plus whatever you want to drink.  Note: Alcohol is prohibited in the park, FYI.

Meet at the Canoe Launch at Neal's Cove at 9:30 (Sat).  If you want to stop by the beach first to drop stuff off  and then come to the canoe launch so we can paddle straight to the beach after touring around, just get there by 9:00.  The canoe launch parking is a drive  from the beach, but you can walk there via the camp store area. I will have a table set up ahead of time. I will put a Meetup sign on the beach near the picnic site.  BBQ will start around 1:00.

Also there is a $5 pp fee to enter the park.

They do rent kayaks at the beach store, but I am not sure of the time (I think not until 10:00). You should call the park for more info.  Or there is a place to rent on the Mountain Rd which leads up to the park - Mountain Road Trading Post.

CAMPING INFO:

A couple of people (including me) will be camping there Friday and Sat night at the Neal's cove area, if you want to join us there are a few spots left as of May 5, but they fill up fast.  Reserve your spot at Reserve America NOW!

Here's a map of the park if you haven't been there: http://www.nhstateparks.com/Maps/pawhiking.html You enter the park at point 1 and the canoe launch is at point 3 (turn right and then right again).  The beach parking is further down the road after the Marsh on the right (the big square)   Take exit 5 off Rt101 and follow Rt156 to Mountain Rd. There is a park sign there.  Follow Mountain Rd to the park entrance.  The address is 128 Mountain Rd, Nottingham, NH 03290.

Considering join the group but presently recuperating from a rotary cuff tear in my left shoulder, just started p.t. this week, and wondering if I have the ability to lift my kayak on my vehicle to partake in what seems to be a great time!

Roy, why would you want to mess with your recovery after going through the inconvenience, pain, and partial disability of a rotator cuff injury and then surgery??? Yikes, man. Take the time you need to get completely right. There will be plenty more kayak adventures with this group throughout the summer.

For those of us camping, do we want to plan menus, etc. and combine or just each do their own thing?

I noticed that all of the Neal's cove sites are booked now, but there are some available on the big island and horse island at this time. So if you want to camp, go to Reserve America asap!

do they allow power boats on this lake? I prefer to avoid them when in my small fishing yak.

    May 31, 2013

    • Cindy M

There are some power boats, however they are usually outside of the area we will be paddling. We will stay close to the shore. There are no-wake designated areas as well. I have paddled this lake several times and have noticed that powerboaters are generally courteous of paddle powered craft.

Yes, Ellen, as it says above, there are 2 choices. Mountain Rd Trading Post, on the way up the road to the park rents kayaks for the day. You can also rent from the beach store by the hour, but I am not sure what time they start renting. You could call the park and check.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
