RE: RE: [adventurers-341] Waterfall Canyoneering Looking Good!

Some of the rappels are 100 feet.  Not a lot of strength is needed, but kids sometimes get freaked out by the height, but it’s only on the first one.  After that, they’re good for the other four.   I don’t know your son, so you’ll have to make the call.  We have all the equipment and the best rock guides in the area, so he’ll be in great hands and will walk away with an experience that he will never forget.

As for the tubing, with the full dam release, it’s not negotiable

If you wanted to skip the waterfall canyoneering, this is what it would look like:  Saturday would start with an open water kayak tour around an abonded castle in the Hudson followed by a high ridge hike, scramble and cave exploration in the Gunks.  Then we’d camp up in the Catskills.  Sunday is a waterfall hike followed by a swim in a local swimming hole.  During the two the hours the rest of the group is tubing, you could explore some of the local towns, grab a snack in Phoenicia, wade in the river and then rejoin us as we make our way to Woodstock for dinner.  If Veronica and Max (who I now realize you DON’T know) were to skip the tubing, I would take the four of you on a great hike in North South Lake or set up a fun orienteering course.  I’ve got all the camping gear, but you would bring sleeping bags and pads (I might be able to find some if you don’t have).   The other option is to just meet us on Saturday night or Sunday morning.  Sometimes having too many options is not so good, for this I apologize, but there has been a variety of interest that I’m doing my best to accommodate.  Feel free to ask away.

Hi Russell,

I don't know the other family and don't wan't to ask them to do give up an adventure I am sure they want to do ...

I am disappointed about the rapelling and the tubing... they would be the main attraction for me ....

not a big camper ... don't have any supplies .... don't know what we would do on Saturday, can you please elaborate?

Thanks,

Lisa
