THIS IS A SIDE ADVENTURE FOR GRAYSON HIGHLAND PARTICIPANTS BUT YOU ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US.

For anyone who would like to join in on this as a day trip, you are more than welcome but you will have to form your own carpools as our group will be coming from our weekend trip at Grayson Highlands.

On Monday we shall all have had our breakfast and have our campgrounds broken down and ready to head to Stone Mountain by 10 am. Stone Mountain is less than an hour drive from Grayson Highlands. Before leaving Grayson, be prepared for our Stone Mountain Hike with snacks, lunch and water and anything else you’d like to take along for a strenuous hike along The Stone Mountain Loop Trail. This is a 4.5 mile hike that takes you across the summit of Stone Mountain then by the Hutchinson Homestead and a 200-foot waterfall. We may throw in a little side adventure to see an extra waterfall depending on how the group feels.

We will meet in front of the visitor’s center and be ready to hike at 12 sharp. We will have lunch on the summit of Stone Mountain and spend some time here before descending down to the Hutchinson Homestead. The homestead consists of a log cabin, farm equipment barn, blacksmith shop and more. It is representative of the lives of early settlers in the area.

This adventure should take 4 hours at most then we will depart and I’d love to have dinner as a group on our way back home.

So sad that I misunderstood the plan. Can't believe the weather you had. :-)

Great trails and amazing waterfalls. Will have to come back and hunt down the other 2 with proper gear.

I have torn some tendons in my foot/ankle. I won't be able to hike until mid or late summer.
