Flat Creek Falls/Panthertown Valley

  • Jul 27, 2013 · 8:00 AM

**This event is only for those who have a Yes RSVP for the annual Big Brevard Camping Trip**

Join your THOG friends for an adventurous hike to the beautiful Flat Creek Falls in Nantahala National Forest.  We will depart from Kuykendall campground promptly at 8 AM and drive to the forest and make the challenging hike to Flat Creek Falls.  After eating lunch and enjoying the waterfall, we will hike back to the vehicles and stop at Panthertown Valley on the way back to camp.  From Cold Mountain Road area of Panthertown, we will hit Schoolhouse Falls and Greenland Creek Falls and possibly others depending on time.

This is a very challenging hike, involving bushwhacking, climbing, and crossing streams without bridges.  The Flat Creek Falls area is very remote and it's possible to become very lost in this area; therefore, it is very important that everyone sticks together for this hike.  Fit hikers only - everyone needs to be able to keep up.

Be sure to bring lunch, at least 2 liters of water, hiking poles, camera, water shoes for crossing the streams, and a towel to dry off your feet.

Chih-Wei, you might want to bring scuba gear too. With all the rain we've been getting, we may need it to get to the falls!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
