(local) Sycamore Trail

After dealing with snow/ice, I am sure many of us will be ready to get outdoors.  Let's hike the 7.2 mile Sycamore Trail at Umstead State Park! The Sycamore Trail is a loop trail that has moderate hills, exposed roots and rocks and is marked clearly by blue triangular blazes. This tends to be a rather fast paced hike with only brief stops to drink water, so it may not be appropriate for beginners. We will meet at the stairs near the trailhead which are located in the last parking lot of the Glenwood Avenue entrance to the park. We will leave promptly, so please be on time.

YOU MUST RSVP TO ATTEND THIS HIKE.

Bring water and be ready to hike at 10:00am sharp.

Please note that the directions to this entrance, which is located off of US 70, are as follows:

From I-540 take the US 70 exit towards Raleigh. Travel southeast on US 70, and turn right on Umstead Parkway. Drive to the furthest parking lot and meet at the stairs.

We started with light rain which ended pretty quick. Turned out to be a great day to hike in the snow. A little slushy at times but how often do you get to hike Umstead while the ground is covered in snow. Thanks for coming out Lisa, Dan and Bill. It was great seeing everyone and I look forward to hiking with you all again soon.
