Old Reedy Creek Rd
Let's do a double-header!!! We'll do a loop (~15 miles) around Umstead State Park, and then we'll ride on over to Lake Crabtree Park for some single-track riding! We'll check out the jumps, the "skinnies," the pump track, etc. (These all are optional, as there are "go-arounds" for this area.) Our total biking distance will be about 20 miles.
A mountain bike is best but a hybrid would be okay. A helmet is required. Also recommended: water, snacks, and biking gloves.
This is no drop ride. We'll be riding slowly, averaging 6-8 miles/hour. We'll take breaks as often as needed. I expect this ride will take 3-4 hours, depending upon the speed of our group. (I'm a slow rider, so we'll never be going fast!) Please note that although this is a relatively short ride, the hills of Umstead can make this ride strenuous for inexperienced bikers. Our single track riding at Crabtree will also be slow... and therefore would be appropriate for new single-track riders.
Anyone who would like to just ride Umstead and not Crabtree is welcome to do so.
After our ride, we'll drive to Carolina Cafe (137 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC http://cafecarolina.com/) and enjoy a well-deserved lunch together!
I hope you can make it out! Happy biking!
