Directions From Raleigh/Cary/Apex: Take U.S. Hwy. 1 South through Cary and Apex. Take the New Hill exit (Exit 89) off U.S. 1. At the top of the ramp, turn left onto New Hill-Holleman Road and go approximately 3 miles, and the park entrance will be on your right.

From Fuquay-Varina/Holly Springs: Off N.C. Hwy. 55 take Avent Ferry Road away from downtown Holly Springs. Go approximately 5 miles to New Hill-Holleman Road (landmark: large white house on corner). Take a right on New Hill-Holleman Road, cross over Harris Lake, and the park entrance will be on your left.

TAKE THE PARK ENTRANCE ROAD STRAIGHT ALL THE WAY TO THE LAST PARKING LOT. THERE IS A PLAYGROUND AND SEVERAL PICNIC TABLES IN THE LAST LOT.

This is about a 5.5 mile hike and is fairly easy with little elevation gain. It is on the water most of the way so still scenic and at certain points you can see the nuclear plant's tower that is over 500 ft high I have been told....kinda gives it an apocalypictic feel to be in that nature and see that thing in the back ground. :)

Look for the information kiosk on your right as you enter the parking area.  This is where we will congregate as it is near the trailhead.  Look for the "unique" hat as well! :)  Extra parking is available across the field if the 1st lot is full.

Folks please update your rsvp if for some reason you are not going to make it tomorrow so that it frees the spot up for someone else! Thanks!

Out of curiosity, about how long will the 5.5 mile hike last approximately? Thank you.

I would estimate 2 1/2 hours....slightly more, slightly less depending on the group. This is an easy trail so this is more of a social/beginner hike....still scenic however.
