(Local) Eno River - Let's Hike the Laurel Bluffs Trail

  • November 4, 2012 · 9:30 AM
    • Join me and your fellow THOG friends for a Sunday morning hike of the (less traveled) Laurel Bluffs trail along the beautiful Eno River in Durham.  We will start our hike on the Pump Station Trail and link up with the Laurel Bluffs Trail for an approximately 8-9 mile loop.  We will have a few brief stops and the hike will take us approximatly 2.5 - 3.0 hours to complete.  I will be wearing a backpack to condition and others are welcome to join me but not required to do so.  The trail has roots and rocks so please wear appropriate footwear, carry sufficient water, and bring a positive attitude!

***IMPORTANT*** Parking at this trail head is VERY limited. (as in only a few cars!)  We will meet at the Cole Mill Parking Lot of Eno River State Park and carpool the 1 mile to the trail head.  Please be on time!

Directions to the Cole Mill parking lot will be emailed to the participants.

It was a Casey M event. What more needs to be said?

Don't forget to set you clocks back one hour before you go to bed tonight! Day lights savings time starts at 2am Sunday morning...otherwise you will be an hour early for our hike!

I just want to get this out there: You can now hike from Pleasant Green Rd to West Point on the Eno, a distance of around 10 miles. This is now the best hike in the Triangle. You can hike it out and back in a day, but to truly enjoy, it'd be best to shuttle.

You don't necessarily need a map for this hike. This section is part of the MST, and is completely blazed with the trail's signature 3" diameter white dot. You can actually go 0.5 mile further east of West Point on the Eno if you go under Roxboro Rd bridge.

The Pleasant Green trailhead is shown as Stone's Creek on this map: http://www.ncparks.go...

As a note, I will be out of town all day tomorrow and will not be able to make changes to the RSVP's until late Saturday night. I have changed the waiting list so that if anyone who RSVP'd yes drops out, a spot will open up and you can add yourself to "going" If you are on the waiting list check back to see if any spots open up.
