Prior to RSVPing, please make sure that you READ this event description completely! Yes, there will be a test! Event capacity = 8-10.

Here is your last chance to make room for some turkey and fixings next week! Fall is definitely in the air and this should also be a good time to take in some local fall colors in our very own Umstead State Park. We will be riding the Park’s gravel roads and bridle trails for about 15-20 miles. For those that have also hiked in Umstead I don’t need to tell you that this park is not flat so please be prepared for the hills. I don’t plan on setting any speed records and we’ll regroup as required to keep the group together.

We should be back to our cars by early afternoon. After the ride we can gather at a local eating establishment to refuel. Sorry, No kids or Pets.

We will be meeting at the Reedy Creek Section (I-40 Harrison Ave.) parking area in front of the rest rooms. I will be riding a forest green Trek 950 mountain bike.

Date: SATURDAY, November 17th.

Time: 10:00 A.M. - Please be ready to depart the parking area on time!

Pace: Moderate, about 10 MPH.

Location: William B. Umstead Park – Reedy Creek Section – I-40 Harrison Ave exit.

Directions: See

What to Bring:
Please bring a mountain or hybrid bike with wide tires, a properly fitting helmet, and enough water to last at least half of the outing. Depending on our route we should find at least one place to replenish our water supply during the ride. You might also want to bring a snack. Please dress appropriately for the expected weather conditions. We will be mostly in the trees, which should greatly diminish the effects of any wind.

Wet trail conditions or active or pending precipitation will unfortunately cancel the event. Cold temperatures will not! I will update THIS EVENT on the THOG WEB SITE by 9:00 A.M. if the weather is questionable with Go/NoGo status.

Leader approval is required. Put yourself on the waiting list. Once I have verified your attendance history and answers to questions I will move you to the “Going” RSVP list.

Remember, YOUR RSVP IS YOUR COMMITMENT TO THIS TRIP and your future good standing in THOG depends on how well you honor your commitments. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours before the event) or no-shows will be noted in your THOG account and may limit your future ability to sign up for THOG trips. Members are responsible for the attendance and suitability of their guests to participate.

If you have any questions you can send me an email via the THOG web site (Steve L).

Glad to hear that the ride is on. I got an email saying that a spot has opened up and that I should RSVP. I don't see a link for doing that here, so I hope this message will do as well.
