Hike Company Mill Trail at Umstead Park

  • Nov 24, 2012 · 9:00 AM
  • Umstead Park: I-40 side

Work off some Thanksgiving food hangover.  Weather looks favorable. Company Mill Trail at Umstead Park is a good Sat morning hike.  The standard by which other triangle hikes are judged.  Moderate (rate 3 by THOG standards)  Plenty of rocks & roots, plus enough up and down to raise your heart rate.  Hiking shoes/boots are good but plenty of people do this in sneakers. Some (me) like hiking sticks for effect on workout. The hike is about 6 miles.  We will make a 2.5-3 mph pace and with a few short breaks plan to finish before noon.  Bring water, 1 L or more.  Well behaved (and leashed) dogs allowed, as well as kids that can keep up (kids don't have to be leashed.)

Very well organized, great group of people, and ideal pace.
