BEST HIKE IN TRIANGLE FOR SCENERY-many miles next to a beautiful stretch of the Eno River and through mature forests on the "mountains" AND EXERCISE-almost 12 miles with elevations gains of 275' on Cox's Mt., 250' on Holden Mill, and 235' on Ridge Trails. FIT HIKERS ONLY for elevation gains and distance, as well as the fact that this hike will be much faster paced:2.5-3 MPH than my usual hikes here for there will be far fewer stops for nature lessons, etc. You must be able to maintain this pace for the 12 miles. Carry your backpack for extra exercise. However, there will be stops for water-snacks and a 20-25 minute lunch stop on the river. BRING: very sturdy footware, water-3 liters for most people, lunch-snacks, layers for the weather, hat-sunscreen, maybe trek pole, camera-binocs. DURATION: 5-6 hours.
