(Local) 12/15 MOUNTAIN BIKING IN UMSTEAD STATE PARK
Prior to RSVPing, please make sure that you READ this event description completely!
We will be riding the Park’s gravel roads and bridle trails for about 15-20 miles. For those that have also hiked in Umstead I don’t need to tell you that this park is not flat so please be prepared for the hills. I don’t plan on setting any speed records and we’ll regroup as required to keep the group together.
We should be back to our cars by early afternoon. After the ride we can gather at a local eating establishment to refuel. Sorry, No kids or Pets.
We will be meeting at the Reedy Creek Section (I-40 Harrison Ave.) parking area in front of the rest rooms. I will be riding a forest green Trek 950 mountain bike.
SATURDAY, December 15th.
10:00 A.M. - Please be ready to depart the parking area on time!
Moderate, about 10 MPH.
William B. Umstead Park – Reedy Creek Section – I-40 Harrison Ave exit.
Please bring a mountain or hybrid bike with wide tires, a properly fitting helmet, and enough water to last at least half of the outing. Depending on our route we should find at least one place to replenish our water supply during the ride. You might also want to bring a snack. Please dress appropriately for the expected weather conditions. We will be mostly in the trees, which should greatly diminish the effects of any wind.
Wet trail conditions or active or pending precipitation will unfortunately cancel the event. Cold temperatures will not! I will update THIS EVENT on the THOG WEB SITE by 9:00 A.M. if the weather is questionable with Go/NoGo status.
Remember, YOUR RSVP IS YOUR COMMITMENT TO THIS TRIP and your future good standing in THOG depends on how well you honor your commitments. Late cancellations (less than 36 hours before the event) or no-shows will be noted in your THOG account and may restrict your future ability to sign up for THOG trips. Members are responsible for the attendance and suitability of their guests to participate.
If you have any questions you can send me an email via the THOG web site (Steve L).
