Introduction

I moved to North Carolina in December 2005 and made the decision to get off the couch and explore the outdoors. I still consider myself a intermediate hiker. I can usually be found at the back of the pack, slowly but surely plodding along.

Where do you live? (For potential Carpool/ride shares) - N Ral, Central Ral, E/SE Ral, W Ral/Cary/Apex, Brier Creek, Durham, Chapel Hill, etc - Please do not put specific addresses!

What outdoor activities do you enjoy? (See Polls) Hiking, Backpacking, Camping, Bicycling, Kayaking/Canoeing, Snow skiing, Camping, Whitewater, etc)

anything that gets me outside and won't get me killed easily. Some things I've done with the group include: day hiking, camping, canoing, kayaking, tubing. I hope to go white water rafting, skiing and anything else the organizers can come up with.

Where do you like to explore?

I'm a "mountains and lakes" kind of girl. I prefer cool crisp mountain air to the heat and humidity of the ocean (not to mention sand in unmentionable places). I like the beach in Fall and Spring but it's too hot in the summer.

What is your hiking level? (ie how long have you been hiking, how often and what is your typical hiking speed?) Please read our "hiking level" guide prior to attending events!

As long as I am able to maintain a slow comfortable pace I think I can climb just about anything. I've done some pretty strenuous climbs with significant elevation changes. I've only been hiking about 3 years and hike about 3 mph.
