Met Chris and his group on top of Mt. Cammerer in the Smokies in October, 2008 while I was section hiking the length of the Smokies on the Appalachian Trail. The group has many of the same interests that I do.
I live in Wilmington, NC. Chris offered the website info and e-mail after we met on top of Mt. Cammerer, and he found out we are basically neighbors.
I enjoy backpacking, hiking, the camping that comes along with those, and bicycling. I am section hiking the Appalachian Trail and have logged over 1300 miles so far. Have never been snow skiing, but do enjoy snow tubing, and sledding.
Presently the Appalachian Trail, but in between those hikes, places that are a challenge, and places where the ordinary person can not, will not, have not, and will not ever see or experience. Places where the "couch potato" does not know even exist.
Your 2-3 mile per hour range is no problem. Even though backpacking the Appalachian Trail is not a race, my highest mileage day is 24 miles. I have been given the trail name, "Thumper".

Great job with photos for our AT adventure! I have only just looked once so far, but you got some great shots. Do I need your permission to post to FB for others to see? :)
Hope you are doing great--I got some poison ivy after all, did you?
Thanks for all the great photos!! Also, thanks for setting the challenging pace!! Loved every minute of it.
John, How do I add all my pictures at once? The site seems to only let me add one at a time. Sorry I'm new to this and my teenage daughter isn't here to help.
