Greenlake Weiner Dog Walk

  • Oct 14, 2012 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS CROSS-POSTED WITH THE WALK SCHEDULED FOR THIS DAY AND TIME WITH THE EASTSIDE/SEATTLE DACHSHUND MEETUP GROUP. YOU ONLY NEED TO RSVP TO ONE OR THE OTHER, NOT BOTH.

YOU ALSO DO NOT NEED TO RSVP FOR YOUR DOG AS A "GUEST". IT IS ASSUMED YOU WILL BRING ONE (OR SOME. HA, HA). PLEASE BE SURE TO ONLY RSVP FOR THE HUMANS IN YOUR PARTY TO LEAVE ROOM FOR OTHER PEOPLE.

Lets get our doggies together and do a lap around Greenlake. It will be like a weiner dog parade!

The path around Greenlake is flat and paved and is about 2.8 miles. It usually takes us about 1 hour at a moderately brisk pace. We will try to keep the group somewhat together but people sometimes settle into their own smaller groups. We will at some point on the walk and take a group photo.

Hope to see you there!

Chester, Gretel and Jessica

Hi Debbie, thanks for asking. It is not encouraged that large dogs join us on walks. Many of the Dachshunds are reactive with larger dogs (or just other dogs in general. Ha, ha) and it has the potential to cause issues. That being said, large dogs that are part of a Doxie family have joined us in the past with no issues and we do not *prohibit* it. Basically, I would give it a try. If there is an issue then you could possibly just not bring your larger dog next time.

I'm not responding at this time because I'm not sure what is going on this Sunday. I do have a question, my other dog is not a weiner dog (friendly lab/pointer mix) is he welcome to come along if we're able to come out on the walk?

This will be me and mojo's first Greenlake walk. We are sooo excited! I've been in to walking lately and he has been walking every day with my dad for a LONG time and he LOVES to walk as I do now :) Can't wait to meet new people :)

Thanks for posting. It's people like you that make this all worth it for me...encouraging people to get out and walk and, more inportantly, give them something active to do that gets them excited :) The walk is always busy for me (organizer) but you can always pull me aside if you have any questions.
