Who likes wine, who loves cheese? Who would like to sample both in the desert beauty of Pollock Canyon? I suggest a hike above the canyon rim to a over look where we can create a spread and create some good conversation. What better way to get to know one another than with some good food, good wine and good company.
Why this group? Why women? First, because I am a woman and I have always felt a pull to gather women of all ages and backgrounds together in order to create self love, free thinking, adventure exploration and growth: AS WOMEN. It has been my experience, as a professional woman, that most young girls who once had high asperations often leave these dreams behind. Social pressures to "fit a mold" as women quickly discourages their desire to go out into the world and forge their own path. To be CEO's or owners of businesses. To be the engineer or Astronaut. In fact, by the time most young women hit their pre-teen and teen years, these dreams are set aside for a more traditional goal. I am not here to say these roles are not important, but I would like to see women realize they can and should have aspirations to do whatever they truly want to accomplish. To have kids or not have kids. To ride dirtbikes, or climb mountains, or create a business. To be a working mom with no guilt. To be a stay at home mom who doesn't try to do it all. To fulfill their needs as a woman and a person and realize this is "OK". To actually see themselves, not as "mothers" but as women who have an identity. When a man introduces himself, he never opens with "I'm a mother", but I hear women introduce themselves this way all of the time. When asked about themselves, they often give their name and then indicate they are a mom, or a stay at home mom or "just" a mom. What I want women to understand is this is not who you are :
