Hello everyone,

My name is Tamara. I recently moved from Northern California with my two boys, Alex and James. James is HFA (pddnos) and his brother Alex is typical... most of the time I look forward to meeting the rest of the group members and sharing knowledge of local resources.

James came from a school district that was under Federal oversight, and because of that, he received a phenomenal start to his educational career. It is truly amazing what can happen when everyone partners together for the success of the child. Now we are down here, and although the school is squeezing by, I can't help but feel we can much better for him. Overall though, I am positive when I think of the possible future outcome and feel more than blessed that he is my child.

I am assuming that James is a student within the San Diego Unified School District. I support your feeling that your son's services could be improved. As a member of this group, you can receive a free record review and consultation from me, Andrea. I am a former sp. ed. teacher, who earned her doctorate, and began my own low-free advocacy service. I am the organizer of this group. I'd love to see what your son's current IEP looks like. If you want to meet just notify me via this forum.
