Connect’s monthly Share-a-Meal volunteer opportunity allows you to build your network with other young professionals all while cooking, serving, and eating a meal with Aeon’s residents. These meals are served at two of Aeon’s apartment buildings: the Lamoreaux Apartments and Continental Hotel Apartments, both of which provide apartment homes for formerly homeless adults.
Connect’s meals are typically served at 6:30 pm and volunteers are asked to arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. The meal planning will be coordinated by a Team Lead who will also help give direction to the group onsite.
Volunteers are asked to make a donation of between $10 and $20 to help pay for the meal. The leaders divide the cost of the meal by the number of volunteers attending-usually this amount ends up between $10 and $15. The Volunteer Leader will collect your donation at the end of the evening. Please bring cash and smaller bills if possible.
Both of these opportunities are in downtown Minneapolis.An email confirmation with start time, final meal cost per person, and parking directions will be sent out approximately one week ahead of time.
Please be sure to let your group leader know if you are not able to make it- we base the menu on how many volunteers we have participating.
This is a great way to get to know your neighbors in the Twin Cities, eat a great meal which you have helped cook, and learn more about Connect, Aeon and the need for affordable housing in the Twin Cities. Space is limited to ten volunteers.
