Reynolds Park After Work Hike & Dinner at Bucksnort Saloon

We'll kick off Memorial Day weekend with a beautiful hike followed by dinner and live music. First, we'll hike in a forest to Eagle's View in Reynolds Park (about 7 miles south of Conifer) which has gorgeous views of the mountains to the south and west. The hike is 4.1 miles with 985' of elevation gain, and is a bit steep in sections. After the hike, those interested will go to the Bucksnort Saloon in Pine, CO (about 20 minutes away from the park, click on link for menu) for dinner, drinks, and live music. The Bucksnort is a popular hangout among hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. That Friday, "Side of the Road Boys" (Bluegrass and Rock-n-Roll) band will be playing--this is the same band that played for us a couple years ago. As this event is on a Friday evening, we can stay out late to enjoy the bar and the music, and celebrate the upcoming unofficial start of summer!

Note: If the weather is bad, we'll skip the hike and just go to the Bucksnort Saloon. I'll email details if that happens.

Please note the details about bringing appropriate gear and in case of bad weather in this Meetup Group's Welcome description. In particular, be sure to bring rain gear. Dogs are welcome on this hike (but not at the restaurant afterward)—they must be on a leash and you must pick up after them. Afternoon thunderstorms are common this time of year, but they usually clear up by hike time. If you join this hike, you are agreeing to this waiver.

Directions: We'll meet at 4:45pm at the Indian Hills Park N Ride (click link for map with directions) in Morrison off of Hwy 285 about 5 miles southwest of C470/Hwy 285 on the east (left coming from Denver) side of the road.  Coming from Denver, the Park N Ride is a left turn (not an exit) shortly after the Tiny Town/S. Turkey Creek Rd. exit. From there, we'll carpool to Reynolds Park, making appropriate arrangements for those that plan to go to the Bucksnort and those that do not.  After the hike, we'll carpool to the Bucksnort.

Hello Ed. Would you happen to have recorded the May 24th hike in a track log? If so, would you email me the GPX file to [masked]?
    I would appreciate it.

Clear skis made for fantastic views at the top. This is one of the most beautiful parks we hike at. Nice, fun group tonight. Great time at the Bucksnort.

Well done. This was my first hike with After Work Hiking Plus! Ed did a good job of giving directions to the meeting lot. He waited for stranglers, like us, to arrive. He made sure to stop and give directions for every part of the hike and after-party. Hiking-stranglers in the group were not left behind. There were multiple stops for people to rest and catch up.

One suggestion may be to warn the bars/pubs/restauranteurs that a very large group is coming their way and to staff appropriately. That poor girl behind the bar was swamped all night. We look forward to another great hike with AWHP!

I did make a reservation at the Bucksnort (I always do), and they knew we were coming. However, due to the unpredictable # of cancellations and no-shows on each hike, we had more people than expected tonight.

:-(. My Manager set a 3:30-4 meeting today. I can work a lot of miracles...but getting from Centennial to Conifer in less than 45 minutes isn't one of them. Super bummed.
