After Work Trail Work & Dinner--Green Mountain/Lakewood

This group has done nearly 200 after work hikes since it started four years ago, so we should be happy to have the opportunity to help maintain the trails that we use and appreciate so much. This group hikes on Green Mountain (a City of Lakewood park) more than any other single location, mostly because we can hike there during the winter.

We will be cleaning up existing trails on the south side of Green Mountain. Expect to work until about 8pm. When we're done, those interested will go to the HomeStead Grill (click on link, then click on right for menu) in nearby Bear Creek Lake Park for dinner/drinks. Hopefully, it will be warm enough and we can sit outside with great views of the golf course and nearby mountains. (Both Green Mountain and Bear Creek Lake Park are City of Lakewood parks.)

Please note, that as discussed in Policy on Advancing People from the Wait List and Other Matters, your odds of being advanced from the wait list on a hike are significantly improved if you participate in this group's trail work days.

Please Bring:

· Your own water—bring plenty—it may be hot.

· Sunscreen and maybe a hat.

· Sturdy shoes—no sandals or flip-flops—preferably hiking boots.

· Clothes for getting dirty in, and be sure to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for the temperature.

· Work gloves.

NO DOGS! It would not be safe or appropriate to have dogs around while we are doing trail work.

If you join this event, you are agreeing to this waiver for the Meetup, and this waiver for the City of Lakewood (you don't need to bring the waivers—you'll sign them on a sign-in sheets when you arrive).

Directions: We're meeting at the trailhead near the Forsberg Dog Park on W. Alameda Parkway on the south side of Green Mountain, just east of the entrance to the Solterra community at S. Indiana, and west of the intersection of Alameda/Jewell/Bear Creek Blvd. We are NOT meeting at the Florida Lot or the Rooney Road Lot. Parking is on the south side of the street (there are actually a couple of parking lots next to each other—it doesn't matter which one you park in). Click here for directions.

It was fun helping to repair trails that we use! Dinner was great! Nice view and it was good to relax and socialize after our hard work!

What a beautiful night! What's better than being outdoors doing fun things, helping when you can, with great people? Feel the breeze, have some great food and watch the last little bit of light behind the mountains go down. Simply beautiful!

Fantastic, hard-working crew today--a lot was accomplished. Thanks to Erik Nilson and his team for supervising us. The weather turned out perfect, and Green Mountain was beautiful--lots of wildflowers. Dinner afterward outside at Homestead was terrific with great views, good food and service, and fun time. Thanks everyone!

Was gratifying to give back to the trail system I frequently trample on, not to mention other incentives! :) enjoyed chillaxing afterwords in a lovely patio space, with a front seat to jeffco's enchanting foothills! Great choice, Ed.

Hard work, but beautiful cooler night with the cloud cover and breeze. Always good to give back, especially with fun people.
