Green Mountain Full Moon Rise After Work Hike and 5280 Week Dinner

We'll hike on Green Mountain from the Rooney Road side. We'll watch the (nearly) full moon rise during the hike at 7:09pm. The hike will be approximately 3-4 miles with 800' of elevation gain depending on conditions. After the hike, those interested will enjoy a 5280 Restaurant Week dinner at the upscale Briarwood Inn (click on link for menu/prices).

Please note the details about bringing appropriate gear and in case of bad weather in this Meetup Group's Welcome description. The weather is mercurial this time of year, so on the day of the hike if the weather is questionable be sure to check the website or call or email the leader (cell# will be sent to those who've RSVP'd) to confirm the hike is on. You may need traction devices such as Micro Spikes or IceTrekkers. Bring a headlamp or a flashlight. Dogs are welcome on this hike, but they must be on a leash and you must pick up after them. If you join this hike, you are agreeing to this waiver.

Directions: We're meeting at the Rooney Road trailhead on the west side of Green Mountain (don't go to the trailheads on the east side on Alameda Pkwy). Click here for a Google map with directions. From C470 on the west side of Denver, exit Alameda Pkwy. At the exit, turn left, go west over C470, go past the Dinosaur Ridge sign on the right, and then continue on the road where it turns right/north into Rooney Road. After you turn north, you can see the parking lot for the trailhead on the right about a mile up the road. Driving north or south on Rooney Road, you’ll pass a yellow sign for hikers crossing the road, and then a second one—the entrance to the parking lot is just after the second sign, on the east side, south of an electrical transmission station with several large electrical towers.

A cold but very beautiful night hike with the lights of the city lighting up the clouds. Great friends. Always a pleasure.

With all the snow on the ground, it felt like daylight. Beautiful views, although slippery on the way down. Excellent dinner at the Briarwood Inn. Nice group tonight!

Syd the dog and I enjoyed our first hike. Beautiful views, although a little slippery. Next time I'll have spikes for shoes! Dinner was REALLY good. So was the service. The group is so friendly, even if you don't know anyone. Thanks Ed.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
