Ed-

I'm shocked and greatly saddened by the news of Kristie's passing. I knew that she had had back surgery but didn't realize how serious it was; in fact, I thought she had fully recovered from it. We will all miss her. Thanks for the notification.

Subject: [After-Work-Hiking-Plus] Announcement re: Kristie Patrick

With great sadness, I announce that Kristie Patrick passed away on the evening of December 25.  Kristie was an avid hiker and was a member of several Meetup groups, including After Work Hiking Plus! and Denver Trail Heads.  She had a friendly and spunky personality, and she will be missed.  Kristie went on the following hikes with my group this year: Green Mountain Full Moon After Work Hike & Pizza on May 25, O'Fallon Park After Work Hike & Dinner on June 7, and O'Fallon Park Summer Solstice After Work Hike & Dinner on June 21. I also had the pleasure of doing three weekend hikes with her and a few others, including Waldo Canyon on May 16, Quandary Peak on Memorial Day, and Eccles Pass Loop on July 10. Her profile for this Meetup is here:

http://www.meetup.com/After-Work-Hiking-Plus/members/12001396/ , and her profile with Denver Trail Heads, where she was an Assistant Organizer, is here:

http://www.meetup.com/denver-trail-heads/members/12001396/ .

I tagged her in all the photos she was in in my group, so if you pull up her profile and click on photos, you can see all the photos she is in.

Kristie leaves behind a 6 year old daughter Riley, and her husband Jim Kuhn.  She died in her sleep due to complications from back surgery.  She had been suffering from serious back problems for many months.  She was only 37 years old.

SERVICE:

There will be a funeral for her next Thursday, January 6 at 11am at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E. 7th Avenue Pkwy, Denver 80206, followed by a memorial.  You are all welcome to attend.

FUND:

Per our suggestion, Jim is setting up some kind of fund for his daughter that you will be able to contribute to.  I should have details in the next day or so and will follow up with another email.

Regards,

Ed White

Hike Leader & Organizer
