FIRST AFTER WORK EVENT LAST NIGHT
The first after work hike for the "After Work Hiking Plus!" Meetup Group went especially well. 24 people showed for hike, and 17 came for pizza afterwards. We had a nice, diverse group, and everyone seemed to enjoy the hike, the company, and the dinner afterwards. Several nice comments about the hike are posted on the website, and you can see them and photos athttp://www.meetup.com/After-Work-Hiking-Plus/calendar/11157156 CMC HIKE LAST SATURDAY IN ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
The hike I led Saturday for the Colorado Mountain Club also went well. 11 people attended (I allow fewer people on more difficult hikes). The photos are spectacular, and can be seen athttp://www.meetup.com/After-Work-Hiking-Plus/photos/702814
I post my CMC hikes on this Meetup site so that CMC members (and others) interested in knowing about the CMC hikes I lead can be informed through this site.RSVP ISSUES
For the first after work hike held last night, at one point we had 30 people confirmed plus another dozen or so on the wait list. In the day before and day of the hike, about a dozen people cancelled, and everyone on the wait list was advanced, ending up with exactly 30 people confirmed and none on the wait list. We had six no shows, but several of them were among those advanced from the wait list at the last minute. Therefore, I'd like to make three points.
1. Don't be discouraged by a long wait list
, as many people will cancel.
2. If you are near the end of a long wait list, you might be advanced at the last minute
, so if you can be available at the last minute, you could end up on the hike.
3. If you can't make it, please change your RSVP to 'No' so someone on the wait list can take your spot.
Apparently, some people can't access the website from work (sometimes employers block certain sites), so if you need, you can call me on my cell to cancel and I'll take care of it for you. (I email my cell# to those who RSVP Yes or Maybe.)NEXT HIKES

Monday, September 14, 6:00pmDog-Friendly After Work Hike, South Valley Park
I'm taking care of my Mom's dog Kodi this week, so we'll do a dog-friendly hike at South Valley Park (south of Ken Caryl Valley, southwest of C470). This one is not too difficult (about 3 miles, 500' elevation gain), and the park has great views. Kodi likes to meet other people and their dogs, but you don?t have to bring a dog
?Kodi will be happy to meet you just the same. After the hike, we'll pick one of the many restaurants (e.g. Chili's, Mexican, and Chinese) within a ~10 minute drive to have dinner at.
Monday, September 21, 6:00pmMt. Falcon After Work Hike & Dinner
We'll hike Mt. Falcon, which has a nice approx. 3 mile loop with about 800' of elevation gain, and is situated just outside the quaint city of Morrison. You'll see great views of red rocks, the hogback, and the city, and we'll watch the sunset (about 7pm) during our hike. We should finish the hike around 8pm. With downtown Morrison just a few minutes from the trailhead, we'll go for dinner afterwards at the Morrison Inn (Mexican).
Thursday, September 24, 6pmDeer Creek Canyon After Work Hike & Dinner
We'll hike scenic Deer Creek Canyon (southwest of C470). We'll go up Meadowlark Trail and down Plymouth Creek Trail for about 3 miles and 900' of elevation gain. We'll have great views of the canyon, the hogback, and Denver, and we'll see the sunset (about 7pm) during our hike. After the hike, we'll pick one of the many restaurants (e.g. Chili's, Mexican, and Chinese) within a ~10 minute drive to have dinner at.
