Darwinism (and, indeed, the naive realism that underlies all Western science, with the possible exception of quantum mechanics) represents what Husserl refers to as the "natural attitude." Husserl writes that the mundanization of consciousness is inevitable from the natural attitude. To understand consciousness, forget Darwin (and all forms of naive realism). -- Ayres
