6 Mile Central Park Hike & Dinner

We'll meet at the edge of Central Park at 3:15pm, at the south east corner of Central Park West and 103rd St, and hike about 6 miles through Central Park and Manhattan, finishing at a Vietnamese restaurant near 90th St on the Upper West Side about 6:00pm.

Take the "C" train to the 103rd St stop, enter Central Park at the entrance there.  There are a bunch of park benches, which is where we'll meet.

We don't want people skipping the hike and meeting is at the restaurant.  This is a hiking meetup, not a dining one.

Attendance at this event is free, and by attending, you agree that you and any guests participate at your own risk, and that you will not take any legal action against the organizers of this group for anything unfortunate that may happen during this outing. All participants will be required to sign a lengthy legalese waiver giving up any imaginable right to sue whatsoever, to the fullest extent possible by law. You can read the current draft at http://bluejacket7.com/legal/WalkingWaiver.doc . There is especially a risk that you will get separated from the group and lost, and if that happens the responsibility will be yours.

I enjoyed the hike. Didn't do dinner (on a special diet). When's the next hike? Thanks!

The legal waiver was a bit off-putting for a walk around Central Park.

The forecast tomorrow is for "Scattered Thunderstorms" with 40% chance of rain, not much wind. Probably if we get rain on any, it will only be for short periods of time. Certainly bring an umbrella. If this changes your mind about whether to come, please change your RSVP to "No" since there is a long waiting list of other people wanting to join us.

The "C" train will be running normally along Central Park this weekend. Get out at the 103rd St stop, and enter the park at the 103rd St entrance. There are a bunch of park benches there, which is where we'll meet.

Bill, It is my first time come. I am not sure if i know where exactly you guys meet. Do you have a number in case i need to find the group?

Magda, you're in the group. However, you probably won't make it onto the walk unless the weather is disagreeable because you're near the end of a very long waiting list.

Everybody, if you have a question for me, email me directly. Anything posted here results in an email being sent to everybody who RSVP'ed for the event.

Hi Carol, I'm mostly worried about someone having a heart attack and dying, or getting hit by a car while following me while I jaywalk. My first aid certification isn't current and I don't carry a CPR machines, so I could be sued. I have absolutely no faith in the rationality of our legal system if some asshole drags me into court.

It's only a walk. What are the dangers?

Annie, I don't know what you're talking about. Douglas RSVP'ed for a guest OK. I had (and still have) it set so people can bring up to 2 guests.
