"How Monkeys Can Help Software Development"
Paul Shannon explores lessons from behavioural economics research into the Endowment Effect, Status Quo Bias and Loss Aversion; using monkeys. He will show how the evidence can be attributed to Lean Principles and Agile Practices in the areas of estimation, prioritisation and communication.
Paul Shannon graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Computer Science in 2003 and has spent 8 years since then developing software. He has been using agile methods for the last 5 years with a mixture of Scrum, Lean and XP practices. He was pivotal in the adoption of agile and lean at Codeweavers Ltd and helped the team improve their development practices before leaving to join 7digital in August 2011. Paul regularly represents the company at conferences and published an experience report in 2010. He now works on 7digital’s ingestion system within an agile team and continues to share his experiences at agile events around the country.
