Agile Alliance Australia - Melbourne Chapter - First Meeting

You are invited to the launch meeting of the Melbourne chapter of the Agile Alliance Australia (AAA). Last year’s inaugural Agile Australia conference established the AAA and it is envisaged that local chapters will provide ongoing education and knowledge-sharing.
ThoughtWorks founder and chairman Roy Singham will be our guest speaker. Roy has more than 20 years of technology and executive management experience and is globally renowned (and frequently provocative!) thought leader.

UPDATE: Due to the high level of demand this meeting will now be held in The Heritage Room of the Rendezvous Hotel, 328 Flinders Street, Melbourne.

Hi Daamon,
This will be discussed at the meeting and it's certainly the intent. We've had a host of members offer to use their organisations facilities to host a chapter meeting already. Judging by the amount of responses to this meeting it looks like there could be a reasonable demand.

Jim PelletierLots of management, this is great but I hope it is relevant to me as a developer as well. I'd love some discussion with managers about how to get greater buy in from MY management. Also while I would love to attend local chapter meetings I have no real interest in attending a national conference, so the proposed $100 membership fee would probably stop me from being involved at all unfortunately.

Mike BreezeAwesome - I even got a seat. And a beer. Roy's talk was both inspiring and entertaining - the work being done for UNICEF is fascinating. And hearing again of the benefits of true XP (with its TDD and pairing) over (flaccid) scrum was timely indeed for me. We must stick to the True path!

Tam TrumanRoy's presentation was interesting, especially the discussion on the context of agile here (still experiencing an upswing), and the fewer degrees of separation (how true!), and how this compares to the more mature agile countries. Also the risks being Scrum for the exquisite lack of quality certification.

Mutee QasimThis was my first meeting with Agile group so my expectations wasn't really high. I belive the missing bit was how Agile might impact us as individuals specially that financial aspect will be involved, therefore people might want to know the RIO.

Marty AndrewsI was really happy with the people that attended. User group meetings have a tendency to be dominated by newbies that are looking for advice on getting started. That's important, but it also means the more experienced people don't get the chance to discuss advanced topics. It was great to hear Roy talk about more advanced details and current thinking on topics. I also had many meaningful conversations with other attendees about the content too. Here's hoping that style of meetup can be maintained.

Dominic GodwinRoy Singham was a very interesting and energetic speaker. Enjoyed learning about the UNICEF project and some of his visions for the future.
