What the HTML? - Javascript Workshop

JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Free breakfast, Free lunch, Snacks, Giveaways and more... what more could you want!?!?

This event is the first What the HTML? JavaScript Workshop that has been run.

We will start the day of with an icebreaker (fixing JavaScript tests) to get everybody warmed up and ready to go. (Also gets people talking)

We all own a Zoo and we have been given the task to write a dashboard for our boss. The dashboard will be written with Knockout & JQuery (morning session) then written in Angular.js (afternoon session) and will also have a node.js backend.

Dont worry if you havent used these frameworks before, we will go through the basics and people will be there to help!

We will go through different lessons throughout the day (filtering, sorting data, etc) with each framework and get everybody talking about what and how these frameworks and libraries can and do help us as web developers.

You will need to bring a laptop that has a text editor and modern browser ideally chrome.

You will also need to have Git, node installed on your laptop, and have a basic understanding of JavaScript and HTML.

Thanks Mark - that's great. I ususually go to Pluralsite.com for most online training in web tech, but love finding other good resources like that.

I'm not sure if this group has a section for letting people know about jobs, but the company I work for has several developer positions open right now and tend to offer decent money. If anyone wants me to make an introduction I'm happy to do so - http://www.aminocom.com/careers/

Awesome day of learning and meeting new people and chatting about development with JavaScript. Angular.js was of particular interest to me I learnt a lot from it.

I just found this and I live 2 minutes away (Orton Wistow) and do a lot of website building and am looking to develop my programming skills from the hacking html and javascript level that I currently use. As it looks like this is full now - is it worth me dropping by in the morning in case people don't turn up?

Excellent - Thanks! See you in the morning.

I know the feeling all the other meetups I looked at attending or have attend are in Cambridge, so I was stoked to see one on my door step

Having some trouble locating Saxon House on Google Maps, don't suppose you could link with a pin on where abouts it is?

      April 22, 2014

    • David B.

Yeah we will be. I'm going to be arranging another What the HTML talk soon with some local speakers. You should come along to that, hopefully this summer!

    Hi Mark,

    Sorry for the late reply.

People will have to have some understanding of JavaScript. People will be sharing and paring throughout the day so please feel free to attend.

All levels of JavaScript will be different but dont let that put you off.
