Theory of Constraints - Lean Agile Kanban Oh My!
“Theory of Constraints: Flying Through Bottlenecks” is a simulation that explores applying the Theory of Constraints and other Lean, Agile, and Kanban concepts to process optimization. We'll launch a fictitious aerospace company, build and ship product, and track our financials to see how we are doing. We’ll apply the “Five Focusing Steps” from the Theory of Constraints to improve our operation and ultimately our profitability.
Chris, of Agile Learning Labs fame, will facilitate this session along with Masa K Maeda, the founder and CEO of Shojiki Solutions.
After "Flying Through Bottlenecks", we will have a facilitated discussion where participants can share challenges that they are facing and get feedback, ideas, and support from the group. The event is free!

John van HeterenThe actual exercise was well done, and the concept was well expressed, but the analogies to a Manufacturing environment were too tight. Next time, the example should be more closely aligned with Engineering Design a (HW or SW example). You should hunt for an example in which the bottleneck is one of the design phases (eg: many projects underestimate testing resources. Maybe you could create an example in which one person represents the Under-staffed QA dept).
