Synopsis:

Could you SEE a benefit in CLEARLY communicating 5x more effectively? Or, do you simply wish you could persuade stormtroopers these are not the 'droids they're looking for?

Would you like to influence how others perceive your company, your products, or even yourself?

Come learn some simple, yet subtle techniques to shift communication effectiveness by a factor of 5 or more. And while participants are advised away from initial use with stormtroopers, any VCs, angels, executives and clients *are* fair game.

In this interactive (that means audience participation!) session we’ll cover:

• Why this works

• Simple, verbal techniques to build rapport fast, over the phone, and in person

• Practice on how to build as well as break rapport (helpful to keep discussions concise!)

About the speaker - Bernie Maloney:

Bernie Maloney is an intra*preneurial leader who's helped grow businesses from break even to beyond $100M, leading through influence more than direct authority. He teaches Agile Product Development at Stanford Continuing Studies and consults with early stage startups, drawing on over twenty five years experience with firms such as Bell Telephone Laboratories, Hewlett-Packard, TiVo and Good Technology. A passionate advocate for the Lean Startup Movement, Bernie believes a little structure goes a long way, and that it's possible to Accelerate Genius in just about any person, any group, any industry and any Meetup.

This is a most in-depth NLP training though I'd come across this type of training in other seminars. It will take a lot of practice for sure... Thank you, Bernie. You have done a great job!

A great topic. NLP is a way to equip ourselves with soft skills that no-one teaches you at university! In fact, as Bernie said, the great NLP practitioners are like Jedis of influence. Very handy as an agilist.
Thanks to the organizers and to Yahoo too. Great venue.

This was my first meetup session and truly walked away with lot of insights! Thanks for making the session a hands-on with practice exercises. Influencing through NLP definitely needs a lot of practice.

Fascinating starter kit of Jedi Mind Tricks, especially for aural digital type engineers. Must practice 30 second affinity drills!

Can't make it. And I'm frustrated because I wanted to tell people about the Practical Agile workshop I'm hosting in February and give some discount codes. Maybe next time.

I'm just curious: How will being able to Create Influence, On Demand bring a positive effect in your life & career?

    2 · January 15, 2014

    • Shubhangi K.

I have learnt that being consistent and persistent helps in achieving the goals. So I think of "being influential" as a goal for me to work on with the tools and techniques from the session.

      2 · January 20, 2014

    • ERIC O.

      Nice point, Shubhangi.
I know such techniques can backfire if not used correctly, so I'm up for some practice first before actually moving to consistency. Hopefully, we'll also learn where to start, as well as do's and don'ts.
