I've been working in information security and privacy for 20+ years. I am also going to be facing challenges with Aging in Place. I will be fascinated to see how the technical ideas and the challenges match up.
This is a group for anyone interested in the development of products and services that enable Seniors to "Age In Place" better or longer than they can today.
We are running a series of Meetups for people to come together to network; to share stories about challenges relating to aging; to brainstorm possible "solutions" to them; or just to learn what is new at the intersection of "Aging in Place" and "Technology".
We hope that together we will create "insights" that can be useful for seniors and their friends and families. These will be curated and posted on the Aging in Place Technologies Circle website for others to share.
Our dream is for a subset of this group to coalesce around specific challenges, and form working groups that will actually define and develop real products and services. We have ideas how that will work, and how it will be financed, and if you join us we will be delighted to get your help figuring out the details.
This Meetup group is a "circle" of the Longevity Explorers, an initiative of Tech-enhanced Life, PBC. As a Public Benefit Corporation, Tech-enhanced Life is allowed to combine a "Mission" (like a non-profit) with the focus and incentives of a for-profit company. We think of it as harnessing the best bits of Silicon Valley Capitalism to chip away at some of the more thorny challenges facing society today. Our Mission is "to improve the quality of life of the aging and their families".
We hope that eventually the learnings and cocreation this group does together will lead to actual revenues. And when they do, our vision is that these revenues will be shared among those who participate in proportion to the value of their contributions. To be honest, we have not yet figured out the exact details of this part, and if you have ideas we would welcome them.
If this sounds interesting, please come to a Meetup, get to know us a bit, share "challenges you think need solving", or join in some brainstorming to help solve the challenges others bring to discuss.
