Leaders in Green IT: Competitive Advantages for Energy Efficiency

Deloitte (map)

Selected By: Michael Atkins

Shifting IT resources to optimize datacenter operations can have major impact on a business’ bottom line by reducing costs for power, cooling, and water. Datacenter managers are beginning to prioritize investment in efficiency in an effort to lower the TCO (total cost of operation) of their facilities. Largely through the application of cloud computing and software-based solutions, many large enterprises – including Google, Facebook, and Dell – have touted datacenter efficiency and energy savings as a competitive advantage.  They have also begun to share best practices in an effort to increase the response to datacenter inefficiency throughout the industry.
