Warm Hands and Hearts This Christmas

Warm Hearts This Christmas

Can you imagine how cold it must be to sleep on the streets? Night after night? Even when it rains? Perhaps for our last exploration of the year we can offer some relief this Christmas. Perhaps we can warm some hands and even some hearts this Christmas...

Bring something warm (and CLEAN) to give away
- gloves
- hats
- scarves
- socks
- etc

In addition, let's also offer hot drinks. Let me know if you'd like to bring any of the following. If in doubt, the first 4 items would be good.
- hot water (lots of it!) (Teri, Stuart)
- tea bags (Teri)
- instant hot chocolate mixes (Daniele)
- instant coffee (Stuart)
- cream
- sugar (Stuart)
- honey (Stuart)
- cups (Dominic)
- stirers (Stuart)
- napkins (Stuart)
- box or tray

1pm Meet at Panera (503 Coleman Avenue, San Jose, CA 95110)
1pm-2:30pm We are going to tag each item with a personal note :)
2:30-4:30pm We'll head to St. James Park together to hand them out.  Park in the metered spaces on E. St. John Street between N 1st Street and N 2nd Street.

Ya it was great because there was already a group there! A random bunch of folks like us serving hot food (fantastic chili!) and giving out clothes too. It was REALLY cold and rainy so I'm glad you took your baby home =)

Ai think it was a wonderful feeling to be working with a fine, friendly group - to bring a bit more peace and serenity to a world that needs it.

Greetings! I picked up hot cocoa packets (qty 50) along with granola bars (qty 60.) At Big Lots there were fleece throws for $3 each if anyone wanted to get some. I picked up 5 of them plus I have a good amount of warm clothing donations from friends and coworkers. I will borrow an air pot from work for some more hot water. Note: the dollar stores sell rain ponchos if anyone would like one in case it does rain. ;) Excited to see you guys tomorrow and participate in this event!

    Hi,
Are we just going to be outside at park benches? Or is there any shelter - from the rain? If no cover, should we / could we bring some kind of popup tent thing?

    December 21, 2012

    • Alisa Kumiko R.

I don't have any shelter planned. current forecast is mid-50's and low chance of rain. Feel free to bring umbrellas, tents, etc but if it's anything like last year, it'll go pretty quick.

Are we going to show up and hope to find some people who want our clothes and drinks - or will they be expecting us?

I haven't announced it anywhere...we'll see how it goes!

    Good afternoon!

I'm checking in. Looks like a lot of the food items are taken care of. I will get hot chocolate packets from Costco! I'll also gather clothing items in the list. I'm going to ask friends and coworkers for blanket and jacket contributions.

Hope you're having a great week.
