Akron Software Developers Guild - Code Crafters Meetup

Each month Code Crafters in the Akron area will gather to pair, share and sharpen your saw in  pursuit of the agile and lean software development practices.

The emphasis will be on learning to become better code crafters. We will work in pairs and test drive code. We welcome those that would like to lead a kata or bring in speakers regarding agile software development. This is a time to experiment and learn. It is a time to code for fun as we learn and grow as professionals

As always, we will have something to eat for as we all know you can't code on an empty stomach. Place your vote for the best programming finger food in the poll (under the more drop down menu).

For anyone who missed the Meetup last night, you missed a good one. Jerry led a great discussion on the integration of Ruby and Erlang and covered a bunch of tips and tools along the way. There is no question that Jerry is a great resource for this kind knowledge and his passion for the subject matter was clear right from the start. I hope this won't be the last we see from him!!

I've moved the code from last night's demo to the VHT GitHub page at https://github.com/VirtualHoldTechnology/vivr-demo

Tonight I'll be talking about integrating Erlang and Ruby at VHT, with lots of code:

Several big organizations, like GitHub and Rackspace, are interoperating Ruby and Erlang for mission critical applications. At VHT we are giving serious consideration to this approach for new applications. In this proposed talk I would explain the reasons for putting Erlang and Ruby together, overview some of the open source tools, and show a working implementation that we built at VHT.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
